The First Two Months

The title to this post could also be "Two Months of Hibernating and Bad Hygiene".  The first two months of Lane's life have flown by in a blur.  You can read his birth story here.  I have so much to say and share about this time... but since I'm so behind on blogging I decided that first and foremost I need to do a little photo dump of the last nine weeks.  Most of the time I just take a quick picture on my cell phone since it's always nearby, so none of these pictures are great quality, but I don't want to forget one single detail of his first few weeks... the way he curled up in the fetal position on my chest for the first week with his soft newborn hair rubbing against my cheek... those first real smiles he started making around Christmas, where one eye would wink shut as his mouth broke into a huge grin...  those sweet little coo's he does while looking right into your eyes as if he's telling you something that is so important and so sweet and loving... the way he breaks into a smile from behind his pacifier and then dozes off into a dream... the way he gets so excited when it's time to eat and shakes his head back and forth frantically.

The last two months we've been hanging out at home a lot, sort of hibernating like most new parents do... but we did fly home to Minnesota for Christmas when Lane was 5 weeks old.  (I will post a different blog about that soon.)  Tate is back to traveling a lot for work, so the boys and I are getting into a routine here at home and it's been really nice to just stay in and enjoy them and all the simple things in day to day life rather than run around all the time.  Now that Lane is getting a little older we've started venturing out a little more with walks, park trips, and to friends houses... but with it being flu season and Lane being so young we haven't been going many places where lots of kids (aka germs) are.  Thankfully Jace hasn't seemed to notice or care, and really enjoys being at home playing together.  Lane has already changed so much looking back at these pictures.  Things are so different the second time around... so fast, so fleeting, so precious... and one things for certain, time passing is definitely more bittersweet.
